What is Pacesetter Capital Group?

Pacesetter Capital Group (PCG) is a brand name owned and created by Pacesetter Management, Inc. (PMI) to recognize the nation's oldest small business finance platform dedicated to providing growth capital to underserved markets. The initial Fund managed by PMI was started in 1970 as a social experiment designed to improve the pool of available capital and spawn the growth of small business ownership, particularly for Hispanic and African American entrepreneurs. In 1985 PMI's Founder & CEO, Don Lawhorne, started his small business investing career with a portfolio of less than $2 million invested in 15 small businesses.

PMI's growth strategy included adding new private capital, additional leverage capital, and the acquisition of several, mostly distressed, small businesses funds. At its peak, total assets under management exceeded $250MM and included a portfolio of over 150 small businesses in a broad range of industries. PMI use a broad range of assessment and company building strategies with an equally broad range of seasoned entrepreneurs and executives who serve as mentors, board members and advisors. Today, PMI is focused exclusively on providing high impact management services to small businesses and limited direct funding.
